Workforce Innovations 2007 has lined up an exciting and educational environment aimed at taking you "Beyond Boundaries" by providing the skills, tools, knowledge and strategies to keep you at the forefront of America's competitive workforce system.

Conference Pathways
We've provided 3 pathways to help you navigate and make the most of your conference experience. Each pathway is designed to focus on a particular aspect of the workforce system that relates to YOU. Follow one pathway throughout the entire conference or pick and choose Sessions to create your own personalized pathway.

Watch out for the Learning Objectives with each session description that highlight what you can expect to take away from each session.

Town Halls
This year, Town Hall sessions will have their own, separate venue outside of the Bridge to Beyond (Exhibit Hall) in order to bring you a more intimate discussion with today's top experts in talent development. Town Hall sessions are designed to promote dialogue and interaction. Some Town Halls will also feature an extended Q&A session that allows participants the opportunity to follow up with selected Plenary speakers.

Plenary Sessions:
Plenary sessions will set the stage for each day of the conference with engaging presentations by today's innovators and thought leaders from the public and private sectors. Come prepared to be inspired!

Learning Labs:
These one-hour, focused workshops will address topics in each of the three Workforce Innovations 2007 pathways. You'll hear from experts in the field about successful practices and how to implement them in your area.

Conferences-Within-a-Conference

Conferences-Within-a-Conference provide focused learning experiences in specific areas of interest. You may decide to go to some of the suggested sessions or immerse yourself in the entire experience. This year's Conferences-Within-a-Conference include:

  • Business Leadership Day
    Participate in sessions geared to employers, human resource professionals, and workforce professionals. You will share ideas and learn how to develop and leverage regional resources and effective public/private partnerships. Co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for a Competitive Workforce. All sessions held Wednesday, July 18
  • Apprenticeship Beyond Boundaries
    Celebrate the Apprenticeship Program's 70th Anniversary by participating in special pre-conference events, Learning Labs that focus on innovative use of apprenticeships to meet workforce challenges, and hands-on demonstrations in the Beyond Boundaries Exhibit Hall. Sign up on site for a Thursday July 19 tour of the Kansas City Power and Light (KCPL) Hawthorn Generating Station, an electric utility and also an Apprenticeship training site that places a high priority on employee training and skills development. Sessions held throughout the conference.
  • YouthWorks!
    Gain first-hand knowledge about the challenges and successes experienced by our nation's youth workforce system and their partners. See innovation demonstrated in YouthWorks! exhibits in the conference's Bridge to Beyond Exhibit Hall. Sign up on-site for a July 19 tour to the Independence Center Education Center (ERC), known for its creative and innovative approaches in serving Kansas City area's youth. Sessions held throughout the conference.
